Fabulous Fridays with Lisa Magruder! - Join In On The Fun!

Another Fabulous Fridays Art, Food, & Wine Workshop is just around the corner!  May 11th, 10:00am-1:00pm we will begin our own Art Journals, and I will get you started on this wonderfully therapeutic art form.  An art journal is a book filled with your ideas, thoughts, memories, spontaneity,  anything!  It incorporates, mixed media, collage, printmaking, painting, drawing, writing, etc. It can be a great launching point to new ideas for paintings or other artwork too...and so much fun!!
As always, I will supply all materials needed, but if you have items--photos, memorabilia, special pens and paints etc, you may bring them to add to your journal.  And, of course, complimentary salad, bread, and wine are included.  You may bring an appetizer or desert to share if you want but its optional.

Please see the attached flyer and email me back to let me know if you're coming or need more information.  I hope you can attend!  Bring a friend and get $10 off first timers!

Open Studio: Come Join Us Saturday, April 21st from 12-3pm

Our GIANT art project has finally bloomed!
The pictures don't do it justice.   Come to Open Studio this weekend and see it in person!   Let's discuss our experiences in creating it, brainstorm names for it, and talk about future projects that we can do as individuals or a group.

Hope to see you there!
Saturday, April 21st
12pm - 3pm
The Block - part of Lakeside Campus

Open Studio is a community of artists and creatives of all kinds and all ages who create together. Come join us, meet creative people (every human is creative in some way, shape, form, by the way), do art (broaden your definition of art...nope, even broader than that), connect, inspire, be inspired, walk away refreshed...

Invite your friends, kids, neighbors, enemies, etc.

Bring your own materials whatever they may be - paints, pencils, paper, music, guitar, dancing shoes, camera, computer, etc. We always have some materials (and snacks!) to share as well.  Feel free to bring your favorite snack to share too, and your favorite music.  There is no cost and no need to RSVP.

Open Studio Field Trip! - Swing and Country Dance Fundraiser - Wednesday, April 4th

Open Studio-er, Natalie Staley, has an awesome teenage son, Matthew, who is putting on a swing and country dance fundraiser benefitting C2BU, AIM, and WIND.  These are organizations committed to fighting human trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. All proceeds go directly to the organizations.
Everyone is welcome!  You do not need to know how to do the dances in advance, though if you get a chance it might be fun to look up UTube  “Swing Dance”,  “Cha Cha”, “Electric Slide” and “Cowboy Cha Cha” videos to boost your confidence J.  This is a family-friendly event, with people and information available from each organization, but there will be no formal presentation.

Open Studio Field Trip!  Let's go!

"Green" Easter Art Installation - Come Join Us on Saturday, March 31st for Bringing It Together!

As many of you know we have been working on a GIANT community art project that will be unveiled at Easter at Lakeside Church. Today alone, I think we had more than 300 water bottle flowers "bloom" before our eyes with the help of many hands.  Thank you to everyone who has participated thus far!  If you've joined us, you know how enjoyable it has been to see water bottles, headed for the trash, be transformed into beautiful creations.

Next Saturday, we will be getting together for a work/play day to start putting everything together.  Come join us!  If you want to work on your own projects, that's fine too.  It's creative time and space.
